For those of you that have found this blog and yet do not know who I am, I thought I’d put up a bit of biographical info – just a little something that tells you a bit about who I am and where I’m coming from. For starters, I am a life-long lover of learning. That probably goes a long way towards explaining the various degrees I’ve picked up along the way. At present, I hold an undergrad in sociology and political science and two masters, one in Christian thought and the second in historical systematic theology. Sound boring? Believe me, it wasn’t! I’d be back in grad school in a heartbeat if I could justify the expense to my children.
That brings me to family. I’ve been married for 11 years now, and my wife and I have been entrusted to raise three young boys. Why do I say “entrusted?” Because ultimately, I believe my boys belong to God first and foremost; and it is only by His grace that we have the privilege of raising them up to live and serve in this world.
This, of course, brings me to the last thing you should know about me. Some people explore theology and culture because they simply love the head-knowledge that comes with reading and studying. As for me, I have no interest in either theology or culture that doesn’t ultimately lead one to action. That’s why my professional career has taken me from working with abused children to working on behalf of the “poorest of the poor” throughout the Developing World. It’s why I’ve spent time working with travelers in Amsterdam and pregnant mothers who are undecided as to what their next steps ought to look like. Ultimately, this is even why I currently teach at a rather unique, one-day-a-week school that is seeking to train up the next generation of believers. All of this is about living out the idea that the Creator of the Universe ultimately cared enough to enter into His creation and die for it. If He cares that much, shouldn’t we?
Looking forward to being a “Scott Bryant Follower!” This should be fun!

Thanks Jan. As you can see, I desperately miss the class we did two summers ago. I gotta figure out how to teach at Willow. This urge just won’t go away!
Looking forward to a good debate from time to time!
As am I, my friend.
But I will win. (In my own mind, anyway…)
Looks good Scott!
Found your blog while researching Wendell Berry. I agree with Naruszewicz; always done that muyself. I used to teach “race relations;” have a few things I’ll send you if you like — email me.
Hi Scott. I discovered a post you wrote a couple months ago with reference to T. D. Jakes and his prosperity gospel. I’m wondering if you would be interested in joining a blog tour for a new book titled Exploring Prosperity Preaching: Biblical Health, Wealth, and Wisdom by homiletics professor Dr. Debra Mumford. If you’d like to know more, please email at the address below. Thanks!
You should talk to the former Elder Board Chairman. He left Harvest after 22 years. He knows where all of the bodies are buried!
